"The Rise of the New Right,” which airs at 7:00 p.m. ET tomorrow night, will stun you with what's happening to this country. You'll never again believe that this so-called Tea Party movement is just about taxes, deficits or Obamacare. No – what you'll see is far more like the original tea party up in Boston, the one that previewed our war against the British.
Look at the Gadsden flag that they wield, that warning of "Don't Tread on Me" with its coiled rattlesnake. In 1776, it served as a warning to those who threatened America from abroad. Today, it's being waved in contempt of our honestly-elected American government in Washington.
Listen to Rush Limbaugh spur on the New Right by calling the government in Washington a "regime." Or listen to Orly Taitz, the leader of the Birthers, call the president "illegitimate." Listen to militiamen on guard against "tyranny" here on the Potomac, and you'll get the full force of what's happening.
This isn't about what the tax rate should be. It's an argument about whether the federal government deserves to be toppled like tyrannies or illegitimate regimes throughout history.
It's not the talk of politics, but of revolution.
These people in the Tea Party movement, in the militia movement, the "Birther" movement, the patriot moment … they are all moving in the same direction. They are not Republicans, or at least they are not the Republicans that you and I grew up with. The New Right doesn't want a stronger role in government, a stronger foreign policy, or even a more conservative social policy. Government is not a problem that needs fixing, as Ronald Reagan said: In the hearts of the New Right, government is the enemy.
Listen to Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, Michele Bachmann, Orly Taitz, and Rand Paul, and you hear of a Washington that has usurped authority, of a president who is not one of us, of a Congress that needs to be investigated for treason, and of a country that has been taken over and needs to be taken back.
The voices you'll hear speak for themselves. The guns you see, the semi-automatic weapons, are the arms of those who see the government of the United States as the looming tower of tyranny.
If I can put it as bluntly as possible, catch "The Rise of the New Right" tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. and you'll suddenly get why we're seeing men wearing guns at political rallies for the first time.

Love Pat Buchanan's "setting you straight" on the crap you are perpetrating with the typical MSNBC garbage...in your hard hitting docu-crap.
Big waste of time.
And your interview with the WH environmental wiz..."Let's Play Wiffle Ball" What a lame interview.
Time to hand your keys to Maddow.
The only thing wrong with this is it's very late coming out. I've known about it for over a year, I've written dozens of posts commenting on the mentality of so called conservatives. This Mathews report will have absolutely no surprises for me, and the only thing that bothers me is how little attention these types get.
i watched hardball last night and couldnt believe the dribble drabble coming out of mathews mouth . is this guy serious ? comparing the tea party people with the john birchers or sen joe mccarthys investigations of the 1950s ? mathews is an idiot or idiologe making disperiging remarks about tea party people who are asking our govt to stop the spending and stop raising taxes . how does this make people anti american ? you have a president that has tipped the scales in favor of socialism by his own hand .ie: take over auto industry , take over the banking industry , cap and trade , force healtcare down our throats , immigration issues never resolved by the fed govt . printing money to pay for entitlements and the best of all ,, REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH .. wake up chris these are the issues the american people are not in favor of or arent you listening like the guy in the white house ?

That's it Mr Matthews, I have tried to watch all of the MSNBC line-up from Morning Joe to Rachael Maddow, as an active retiree, we are a group of 12 people that really like to keep up with current events. We have been a tad bit put out with you since you said "for a minute you all most forgot President Obama was black", yet we gave you the benefit of the doubt. You are doing too much shouting and spitting these days and not really allowing you guest to speak(you are very rude)and my group of 12 have decided that we are going to look at fox news while you are on, and just believe the opposite. Your pontifications have has become quite boring and we are sick of you comparing the President to other Presidents. have you applied for a job with Faux News? We are the very few Democrats in Texas that love to watch MSNBC moderate to liberal agenda..even Morning Joe who is conservative is a great show. you Mr Matthews must be pandering to you ratings at any rate, you are not very good any more. at any rate is there a reason why you are showing twice?
Why not go to the internet and get some real news. If you think that Rachel Maddow has anything to offer except a perverted twisted agenda then you may deserve the medeicade death panels that she supports. IN her eyes its a good thing that resources(health care) should be managed(rationed) more responsably( over 65 sorry no hip replacement have a cortizone shot instead it will help you die faster)
and i as a conservitive republican agree entirely with with this statement .. i dont believe chris mathews understands the ordineray american democrat or republican . he is so self obsorbed with his dumber than dumb statements like comparing the tea party to sen joe mccarthy's witch hunt in the 50s ? who writes this idiots statements ? olberman the doberman ? who breathes fire when he talks about any republican ? i can see the foam coming out of their mouths as they both go into a lather screaming and throwing papers at the camera .. what insolent people .

Chris, your documentary hasn't even aired, but it's already obvious it'll be an intellectually dishonest hatchet job. You'll equate the miniscule fringe group of "birthers" to all Tea Party people. You'll pick and choose the looniest, wackiest interviews and soundbites, and ignore the mass of sane, rational Tea Partiers. You'll throw in the obligatory couple of gun images that bother only people like you. You'll try to turn a bunch of normal Americans into Tim McVeigh clones. And you won't fool anyone, except a few fringe Lefty loons who are as bad as the "birthers!" Oh, and by the way - you at least once referred to the Bush administration as a "regime" you drooling hypocrite....
Great Job Brian.
Almost forgot that Matthews reminded us how he drools and dribbles up his own leg when Obama "appears" before the masses.
And Congratulations on your perspective Senorain Texas...Matthews makes Faux News Look like the Book of Kells with his tainted dribble of garbage

I am pleased to see someone shining a light on this faction for the due scrutiny it merits. I hope to be informed.
"A true documentary"? I highly doubt it. You have already tipped your hand -- lumping the tea party with birthers so you can call them all FAR right wing. I'm sure we'll hear comparisons to Nazis and McCarthy -- except I won't be watching. I'm glad that Pat Buchanan let you have it -- then you misquoted him by making a comment about Rev. Dr. King -- Buchanan never mentioned Dr. King -- he was talking about radicals like Stokely Carmichael and Malcolm X. You are attempting to make anyone who has a beef with our current administration look like a right wing wacko.
You are the reason more people are watching the Fox News Network. Get a clue. No one cares to hear your left-speak sputtering.
I am less concerned with Chris' misinterpreting the Tea Party and its motives, than I am with the complete lack of skepticism Chris has with this administration. American citizens have every right to question where we are headed. Both parties have lost their way.
Somthing that would go a long way toward solving our problems: TERM LIMITS for congress!!!!
Chris is going to use the "sandwich smear" to paint all teabaggers as gun toting kooks. Just wait and see.
Chris-
You and the media are creating and giving credibility to the so-called "Tea Party Movement" out of nothing. They had minuscule crowds until the media became so focused on the easy news hype of these camera-ready fringe groups (and a bullying Sarah Palin female type) that have been amassed under that name. Even Scott Brown, who was an accident of in-attention and a hopelessly bad opponent, is credited to them. We are from Boston and know the real Tea Party, ...believe us they are no Boston Tea Party. Our Founding Fathers were Secular Humanists, not radical religious right reactionaries.

Chris -
If you investigated what the government has done rather than reporting on personalities like a modern day Hedda Hopper, you might actually do a service for the American people. But even this alleged investigation of the 'New Right' is just about personality - no substance except to highlight the left talking points. Just keep it Chris. You're doing us a favor. Once the facade is pulled down, there is no putting it back up.
Chris keep up the good work. Your show is one of the ones who will show and report the truth about whats going on.
The contempt that Chris Matthews has for Americans who have a moral compass is simply a reflection of the contempt that his Global Federalist fiat banking masters have for anyone who puts basic human dignity above "THE AGENDA".
bingo! (see my comment on this point, too!)
I'm watching the show now--pretty slanted--I like how he doesn't like that folks have equate Obama with the Nazi tag--but I bet he never defended Bush from the left when the rabid Dems couldn't label Bush enough with the Nazi label.
It's easy to see how Mathews looks at these issues when he "a marxist in his analysis" ( just google it people). He and the rest of the MSNBC clowns are what is wrong with this country.
Chris Matthews mantra ; " I'm a marxist if you love the American constitution you are a racist homophobe."
Chris Matthews is the best advertisement for the patriot movement. He must know that he is self destructing his show. He must have some assurances that if he is a good marxist mouth piece he will be taken care of.
Chris, I was really disappointed with you and your panel this evening after the President spoke. You and your panel raved on about how bad a speech he gave and that you expected more answers to the problems with BP. It appeared that you expect the President to jump into a phone booth, change into his superman outfit and fly off and save the world. I finally changed channels and watched a rerun of NCIS. People I know in my area think you have unjustly continued to treat the President unfairly. This causes me to think that your view is becoming like Fox News. You must realize that people expect fair treatment and you are failing your audiance. I would suggest that you review your comments over the last few weeks and give some serious thought about how you are handling your program. Your new documentary will be viewed through a sceptic's eyes if we can't trust you to be honest in your reporting.

Chris,
Yes, we are the Rise of the Right and yes, we are going to have a revolution; a political revolution in this country. I have always considered you a student of politics. You seem to want to understand, the 'why's', not just the knee jerk emotions of what is behind movements, or statement, protests and principled beliefs. From what I have seen, (sans the MSNBC bias and drama), your facts maybe right on the money. I also realize that this docu-drama will fall on radical ears as well, as most of your MSNBC audience is on that radical Left that elected Barack Obama - but we will be watching.
We are college educated, working, tax paying, concerned citizens, who have witnessed this nation spat upon by her very citizens, given over to the world in sacrifice for popularity, sold to the highest bidder for our jobs, have a Congress who is more interested in their jobs than in their honor of representing us. But there is a very big reason that we rise..and you got it right, in one aspect - this government, led by Barack Obama, has become disconnected from those she represents. This is form the GOP and the Dems. This is not about party, it's about country. We must take our nation back to go forward. We start now.
This has been decades in the making Chris. Barack Obama clearly represents what concerns us most. As Congress, he symbolizes the utter disconnect in what makes our nation who we are - he has no connection to the country. Born here or not! It's the fact that when he talks about America it is from some text book reference, not about experience - he is decoupled from us. He is not , as is most of Congress, representative of who we are. It is about black and white. Not race - but national identity.
I look forward to the show tonight, I hope you also look forward to the discussion to follow.
Yes the Right is Rising and I am proudly standing with it.
I am not going to engage in a back and forth battle with any progressive. My comments are meant for Chris, not for the choir. Thank you for reminding me of the typos as well, I apologize, sometimes my hands don't function as correctly as they should. If anyone would like to discuss the docu -drama or the reasons why we rise in an intellectually honest way, I would be glad to - however, I won't get into Olbermann type name calling.
This is a good idea for a report. I think it's very late in the game. I've known about it for well over a year. I've written posts about it. There is not going to be any surprise for me. But, I encourage a very aggressive look into what is going on, with more consideration to report in depth. This is a schism in our nation, and it's fomented by the very strong conservative media: columnists, blogs, radio, t.v., etc.... They've so little to worry about regarding consequences for inciting public anger or indignation over misleading outright lying. Consider Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh for prime examples.
Do I need to give that last reasonable corroboration?
http://mediamatters.org/research/201006140064
Just this one link shows how clearly Glenn Beck lies, and that, yes, he should be fired.
The Constitutional movement is one of the most visceral regarding comments against Obama and the federal govt. "State's rights" has become a mantra along with "no new taxes" and " govt. is the problem". The Reagan era has become blindly idolized and Beck has rekindled McCarthyist fear of communism. Beck and his ilk spread the word "socialist" around like butter on bread.
There has not as yet, a movement to foment consequential rebuttal of all the harmful propaganda coming out of the so called conservatives.
Chris, I watched you on Morning Joe this morning. I am part of the Tea Party movement and in no way consider myself part of the right fringe. I am a 62 year old female who has become very upset with the government spending to enlarge government control of our lives.
Will your special tonight include the fact of theTea Party gatherings as non violent? Where are the arrest at these events? I think the numbers speak for themselves. So why do you consider them violent?
This is not about party!! It is not about race!! This is about an out of touch government who no longer represent a huge number of its citizens. It is our fault as we voted for them, it is their fault for false promises. Now we will use our voices and votes to regain the leadership needed to restore our country to its greatness. Who will it be and from which party, I'm not sure. However, after much consideration they will have my vote.
There are many far right and far left out there. I now consider YOU on the far left reporting on the far right per your conversation this morning. Dangerous.
Chris: I intend to watch your special but allow me to say, This is not a rise of anything. These people have always been with us. I know you can't say what this is but you know and everyone knows what these people are about. What is the common denominator of all these groups. Racism is woven into the fabric of this great country and always has been. Where were these groups when Bush & Cheny plunged us into the mess we are in.
Chrissy - Your special is nothing more than a self serving hit piece. I have read the CBS Poll your reffer to. Here is the link http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/poll_tea_party_041410.pdf?tag=contentMain;contentBody
Why don't you do a poll and see what most of america thinks of you, fox, msnbc. Are do you already know.
The old Chris would have discussed the issues not slandered people for his own benefit. I firmly believe that your motives have been not to distroy the tea party but to make it look extremist as possible so that Dems and moderates that identify with their primary belief, ( Federal Deficit ) , are to discouraged to stand up for change and stick with the DEMS.
I use to think you were better than Russert but I understand why you were not offered "Meet the Press" when he passed. You have marginalized yourself. It is sad than you are less important than Keith, Rachael, and Ed.
Instead of being educational, statesmen, honest, you will catter to where ever you can get the biggest pay check. Thanks for memories.
