Rick Santorum had three big wins last night in Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri. Is the Republican party just not that into Mitt Romney anymore? We’re asking one of Mitt’s top surrogates, Gov. John Sununu (R-NH) and Politico Senior Reporter Jonathan Martin.
Next: The controversy over the Catholic Church and contraception rages on. Is this fight about religious freedom or women’s health? We’ll pose the question to the Daily Beast’s Michelle Goldberg and the Washington Post’s Melinda Henneberger.
Then: Culture Wars. Can we attribute Santorum’s sweep to the three big issues at play today: The Catholic Church and contraception, Susan G. Komen and Planned Parenthood, and the Prop. 8 ruling in California? MSNBC Political Analysts David Corn and Michael Steele will discuss.
Finally, Mimi Alford confesses the details of her affair with then-President John F. Kennedy—while she was a 19 year old intern in the White House. Her book “Once Upon A Secret” hits shelves today. Author Evan Thomas joins us tonight.

Please don't have Melissa Hennenberger on again. The topic is one that deserves consideration, and it's hard to even hear one guest speaking when another guest -- who just happens not to agree -- is constantly interrupting and talking over her. She was just plain rude. If she can't make her point in the time she's recognized by the host to speak, then she clearly shouldn't be invited. Chris should have told her to shut up!
Why can't church give their employee an option to choose, since this is an option for women right to choose for their health prevention? Isn't freedom to choose your health option and right for women health is what conservative wants and their argument vs. the President Health Plant? Are we going to take away women right to vote next?
I guess it's finally Santorums turn. The Republican's are just hoping that someone will actually show some kind of real American Presidential leadership. Unfortunately for the Republican Party they only believe in lower taxes and zero regulations for the incredibly wealthy which has led to the near destruction of this country. To distract their undereducated base they keep them chasing long ago decided but racially charged and bigoted social issues.
In fact they have become so bad they now attack their own base supporters like Clint Eastwood for showing support for American jobs and American cars and products. But that is the problem. The Republican Party and the rich upper .5% have become so concerned with their own selfish pursuit of wealth over the last 30 years that they no longer have any concern what-so-ever for the 309 million people living here and would rather invest their money in other countries, pay taxes in other countries, employ other countries citizens, improve the infrastructure of other countries and even pay the cost of universal healthcare in other countries but let Americans suffer as their own country, fortunes and well being fall apart. Republicans and the rich they represent have lost all legitimacy, and that's why they are slowly losing their base.
I am disturbed by the comment made yesterday on Hardball whereas the guest said that his "dog" could perform a better job than the President. More surprising is that Matthews did not call him on the disrespect he showed the President. I have been following Political talk shows for over thirty years and never have I been so disturbed by the level of disrepect at what elected officials have been able to say without being challenged about this President.
Isn't it relevant that the Santorum wins were from incredibly low turnouts, or is that not correct?
And my version of Brian's comment: Doesn't the church trust it's own constituents to choose the right path, it has to force/deny them?
Conspiracy theory or devious truth? The Republican establishment understand that none of their current crop of Presidential candidates (clowns) can win in a general election. They also know during the primary race they need to pander to the far right to keep the Teapublicans from going rogue and running a third party candidate. So what if all those behind the scenes pulling the strings of these puppets are doing so to get their message out and just planning on hanging all of them out to dry in the end. Allowing this group of misfits and "Wanna bees" to cheer for their causes, take the heat and ridicule, and get their portion of the GOP fired up, may only be cover for the real presidential bid. If they can go to Tampa without a winner then they can chose a candidate without all the baggage that all of the current group of clowns has. The current group of candidates will have gotten the message out to each of their portion of the party (especially the far right or "flat world believers"). The GOP then could pick a fairly unknown candidate (or at least a candidate with broad appeal from just not having to much to dislike), that would have little to target, would not have all the baggage of the primary race, would not be beholden to any specific donor or segment of the party, and would have the dexterity needed to run in the general. Could the Democratic Party be being set up to be blind sided? Just saying.....
Chris, you asked yesterday if your school or other Catholic universities have a secular purpose. The answer is yes: their secular purpose is to educate their students. Likewise, Catholic hospitals have a secular purpose: to treat their patients' illnesses. In fact, their secular purposes are their main purposes and outweigh their religious purpose.
Yet another way the GOP can ponce on the president. Let the Insurance companies cover everyone for contraception no matter where the person works. It is their conscience if they will use contraception or not. Besides some birth control is used for other medical conditions besid contraception.
