Rick Santorum says he wasn't criticizing President Obama's faith when he said the President has a "phony theology". Obama political adviser Robert Gibbs called it an attack on the president's "character and faith." Judge for yourself: Santorum said “It’s about some phony ideal, some phony theology. Oh, not a theology based on the Bible, a different theology. But no less a theology.” We've asked the question before, but we'll ask it again: Why do Republicans treat President Obama with such disrespect?
Santorum also said that the federal government should have no role in public education. Folks, this is a guy who's far to the right of the far right of the Republican party.
Meanwhile Mitt Romney has clawed back to within four points against Santorum in Romney's home state of Michigan, 37% to 33%, in a new PPP poll. And Romney's still haunted by his op-ed from 2008 titled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt." If Santorum wins Michigan, that op-ed will be a prime reason.
And if Santorum wins Michigan, expect the Republican establishment to really start calling for someone - anyone - other than the current field of candidates. Politico takes a look at the likelihood of various scenarios - from a late-entry into the race to a brokered or contested convention in Tampa.
And with everything else seemingly going his way, President Obama has one bit of bad news to contend with: The rising cost of gasoline. How politically vulnerable do higher gas prices make President Obama?

Santorum was talking about a "secular theology" of liberalism that seeks to control your life and dismiss religious thinking. I am not sure how this implies disrespect but I would appreciate an answer to that question. I dislike the Santorum stance but it is honest and heart felt. How does speaking from the heart imply disrespect?
As opposed to religious theology which seeks to control your life and dismiss secular thinking?
Even if you disagree with the President's views, they ARE his views and should be respected as such
It's really just manners
Santorum who follows the distant drummer may just have been hit in the head by a drum stick! A secular theology of liberalism that seeks to control your life and dismiss religious thinking does not exist. I think Santorum was fumbling for words and ran into that phrase and wasn't deft enough to recover. The religion that Santorum holds does seek to control his thinking, and does, and his life, it does and to permeate his entire being, and it does. Look up Opus Dei and know that one if the founders is Rick Santorum.
Santorum and the republicans seem to have a death wish. The naive posturing,the fabrications, are in insult to thinking people regardless of their respective political beliefs. The musical chairs happening indicate that republicans do not like any of these choices and as the faux pas pile up they keep switching. If they do not like their choices its an admission that these politicians do not measure up. If they keep throwing out red meat to the right wing none of them have a chance in the general where crossover and moderates are important.
Santorum was clearly claiming to be the right kind of christian, and the president is the wrong kind of christian, if he's christian at all. There's no need to read between the lines or give a revisionist version of what he said. The government, as the founders designed it, is a secular institution. Get over it.
What religion is Valerie Jerret ? She's in charge of MSNBC, and answering that question would be a great place to start. Abortion is the idol of the left, and ObamAcorn showed that lately by going after the Catholic church. Acorn is fast running out of fights to start, and that is His favorite trick. ;)
Someone should have gone after the "Catholic Curch"many years ago.Of course that would of been kind of hard,the way they shifted the predatory pedophiles around the country so they could continue their predatory ways. There probably are less predatory pedophiles in the whole of acorn than there are predatory priests in one small city.I'll take Pres.Obama's form of christianity rather than a form that condoned the mental and physical abuse of children.
ObamAcorn should just start fighting for muslims, where He's got some real backgound. It's a premade fight, He could just call Americans Anti Islam. After all, We are not a Christian nation according to Acorn. ;( God Bless America !!! Tax hikes and five dollar gas. "Yes We Can" !!!!!
... Let me continue...
Spent the critical years of growth in Europe and Africa. Makes me sensitive to how we are perceived around the world. Not pleasantly at all. The world perceived us as a village id9iot for the longest time.
Some of the zingers;
The mutterings of a diseased mind. With no understanding of the full import of the meaning of their statements, they ply on full force quite blissfully unaware they are woefully misinformed by an australian and a Saudi Prince {do they even known the money men behind fox?}
Trying to rationalise this distinct lack of critical thinking, '
"A mind is such a terrible thing to waste"
Awfully sorry for the layout. Appears i'm all thumbs today. After editing time, can't edit it any further. ...but, i'm sure if need be, it shall be fixed.
Awww. Forget to share this;
Honestly, i didn't want to because of who it is and the venom with which he speaks of the president but, hey, if we all went around behaving like most gop, it'd be a horrendous thing.
Romney. He is going the way of the 2004 dem candidate. He is using references that do not register with his current locale and yet make A LOT OF SENSE in europe.
That phrase; "... the trees are the right height"
Let me preface this by saying it actually might make him REALLY come across as completely alien to reality.
The phrase is accurate and correctly applied IF the audience was different. Just like the $10,000 dollar bet on national tv when the average family is under water, it was inappropriate. Perhaps that is why his team, if they know this, are reluctant to address the issue again. It shall seal his 'out of touch status'.
It is a phrase found typically in public school in the UK (Private school in the US). Eton is a public school.
A similar phrase would be; ...'before the flood' when saying 'a very long time ago'.
Trees are the right height is a loose reference to "conditions are perfect".
Chris, think about it, the Koch brothers and other oil industry oligarchs are raising gas prices to provide campaign/super PAC money for the republicans they control.
Herman Cain called us stupid. The fact is, Rick Santorum wants to dismantle our educational system to create more morons. Who then can be easily tricked into becoming republicans, simply because, they are morons. Maybe these guys are smart?
A wiser man would understand, that the world population growing at the current rate, cannot sustain the human race for more than the current lifetime of anyone alive today.
Armed with this knowledge. The wise choice for the church, would be to adopt religious doctrine recommending contraception as a means to insure the survival of the human race. And, loose the old Religious doctrine that says go forth and multiply. Which worked well in the past, but has no place in the current millennium.
Unfortunately, Wisdom is not a requirement for becoming a church elder or even a politician.
When asked, a pro-lifer supports the death penalty.
Perhaps I can decode mark flesberg's rants for the uninitiated.
If you want a clue to what the hell Santorum is getting at, Google up some information on the "dominionist" movement within the Christian right. Their position is that God gave man dominion over the earth and everything on it. Thus, for example, man need not worry about things like conservation or the environment, but simply use the Earth as he sees fit, trusting God to provide. (Or, one presumes, to end the world about the time there's nothing left for man to exploit.) To suggest otherwise is to propound a non-Christian, secular "theology." Another word for this is blasphemy.
Dominionist believe that it is their duty as Christians to establish dominion (i.e., control) over the 7 mountains of society: business, government, media, arts & entertainment, education, family and religion. In so doing, they will assure that the United States follows the divine path which God has ordained for it.
In other words, they're the Christian version of the Taliban. If you think Rick Santorum and his ilk are simple buffoons, think again. They are a serious threat to your liberty.
